Matt, Devon and Abby of The Young and the Restless

A villain’s arrival in town adds heat to The Young and the Restless’ current storyline. December 2025 saw Roger Howarth’s Matt Clark arrive in town with his sidekick, Catherine Kresge’s Annie Stewart. Other characters like Abby, Devon and Johnny return on screen as per the demands of the soap’s plot.

The past weeks on The Young and the Restless focused on the Newman clan’s ongoing tussle with Matt AKA Mitch, who has waged his war on Noah and his family. He brought corrupt cop Annie with him to use as his aide. Soon, he tasked Annie with taking care of Sienna. As such, Annie hit Noah on the head, rendering him unconscious, and kidnapped Sienna.

Matt, on the other hand, called Noah and challenged him. With him in town, Nick, Sharon and Victor were seen readying for counterattacks. Elsewhere, Abbott Communications celebrated its launch party. Victor chose this time to publish Jabot’s absence from the market, ruining the company’s reputation.

The Abbott family responded by trying to do damage control. On one hand, Diane reached out to Michael to get evidence about Victor using Cane’s AI program, while on the other, Billy asked Phyllis to steal the AI back, who agreed only if the Abbotts write off Marchetti to Summer. At the same time, Audra and Claire’s tussle continued, keeping Holden in the middle.

Meanwhile, Nikki took offence at Victor’s attack and threatened to walk out of her marriage. While Victor made it clear that he held his enmity with Jack more important than his love for his wife, Nikki reconciled with him for the Christmas celebration. However, Michael considered turning on Victor to help Diane.

The Young and the Restless: All returning characters for December 2025

Roger Howart as Matt Clark/Mitch Bacall

While the Newman family brought Noah and Sienna safely to Genoa City and left Mitch behind, as expected, Mitch Bacall followed his wife to town. As such, Roger Howarth returned to the soap’s storyline in December 2025.

He was seen trying to track Sienna and Noah and plan revenge. He instructed his sidekick, Annie, to handle Sienna while he called and taunted Noah. As The Young and the Restless viewers already know, Roger’s Matt has a longer story arc on the soap.

Catherine Kresge as Annie Stewart

Catherine’s Annie was seen as an undercover cop with Burrows, but was soon revealed as a corrupt one and a stooge of Matt. As such, Catherine Kresge was seen onscreen again as her character arrived in Genoa City with Matt.

Matt asked her to handle Sienna. As such, she explored the trap Nick had put up at the club and soon zeroed in on Noah with Sienna. She was seen hitting Noah and abducting Sienna at gunpoint.

Matt Cohen as Detective Burrow

Matt Cohen’s Burrow popped in at Genoa City by the end of December 2025 after turning on Matt in LA. While in town, he is yet to come into action in the coming weeks.

Cait Fairbanks as Tessa Porter

After a long gap, Cait’s Tessa was seen onscreen as she attended the launch party of Abbott Communications. She interacted with Daniel, Phyllis and others. Later, she was again seen joining Daniel at a restaurant, where she interrupted an uncomfortable discussion between him and his mother. Phyllis took the cue and left as Tessa arrived. Tessa had a discussion with Daniel and explored her feelings for him.

Melissa Ordway as Abby Newman-Winters

Melissa’s Abby made a quick appearance on The Young and the Restless surrounding the Abbott Communications launch party. She was seen there with her husband, Devon Winters. She expressed her displeasure about Lily bringing Cane along to the party.

Bryton James as Devon Winters

Along with his onscreen wife, Abby, Bryton’s Devon appeared in The Young and the Restless plot in the Abbott Communications launch party. He was seen expressing strong views against Cane and warning Lily away from the latter’s former spouse.

Beth Maitland as Traci Abbott

On December 23, 2025, The Young and the Restless viewers saw Traci on screen as she had a chat with Diane. She appeared for a brief cameo.

Paxton Mishkind as Johnny Abbott

Paxton’s Johnny was seen on December 24, 2025, as the Abbotts decorated for Christmas. He was seen carrying the tree home where his parents, sister and Sally waited. His father joked that he beat Charlie Brown on the tree grabbing. Later during the popcorn decorations, Paxton was seen eating the snack and others strung them.

Sienna Mercuri as Katie Abbott

On December 24, 2025, Sienna Mercuri was seen playing Katie onscreen during the family’s Christmas tree preparation. She was seen waiting with her onscreen mother, Victoria, father, Billy, and his girlfriend, Sally, for Johnny and the tree. She later helped string popcorn for the tree decorations and also made a star with tin foil with her onscreen brother.
