The Young and the Restless Friday, Recap: Cane Catches Phyllis – Jill’s Eerie Prediction

Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) was on the phone with Diane Abbott (Susan Walters), complaining about the Newman Media hit piece on Cane and what the aftermath would bring when Jill walked in.
Jill finally made it for a visit after being in town all week but let Jack know that she wasn’t staying in town for long.
While her health is well, she does have a procedure to get to in London. The two talked about everyone’s favorite subject these days: Cane.
Still, they spoke about Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) first, and Jill did lament that she tried to make amends with her son, but he wouldn’t have it.
Jack reminded her that she hurt Billy tremendously when she sold Chancellor to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) without telling him.
Jill noted that while she regretted how she did it, she didn’t regret what she did.
Then their conversation turned to Cane, and how devastating the face-off between him and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) was during the Thursday, October 9 episode, after Newman Media published that damaging article on Cane.
Jack worried about revenge; however, Jill told him that Cane’s focused on proving himself to his kids, not getting back at his enemies.
Jack made it clear that he had nothing to do with the hit piece. He asked if the Newman Media story was true, and Jill honestly wasn’t sure.
He also asked if Cane knew about Colin Atkinson’s (Tristan Rogers) con, and Jill said she’d like to believe that he didn’t.
Jill revealed that Colin and Cane truly bonded in Colin’s final days.
She added that Cane looked up to Colin and was so inspired by the way he turned his life around.
If Colin did con that woman, and Cane’s legacy was built on a lie, Jill predicted that this would truly gut Cane to his very core.

Over at Newman Media, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) were celebrating in the afterglow of their Cane piece.
The traction and clicks were awesome, but Cane placed a damper on that real fast when he walked into their offices.
Cane issued a serious threat: legal action against Newman Media. He questioned if the duo had followed up with any sources.
He also warned of a scoop that he’d give Chelsea (ignoring Adam) and said they’d be publishing an article with a very different outcome.
Of course, Chadam ran straight to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) at the Newman Ranch with an update on Cane’s legal action threat, and the little comment he made about a new article.
Victor fluffed it off as Cane planning his next move and wasn’t concerned.
Meanwhile, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) arrived at Cane’s train cab, and he wasn’t there.
Never one to give up an opportunity to snoop, she began looking around on his bookshelf, and when Cane caught her, she claimed she was bored and looking for a deck of cards (yea, right, Phyllis!)
Phyllis asked Cane where he had been, and he said he was running some errands.
She noted that it was interesting that he wasn’t planning revenge, which is when Cane stated that revenge was for the Newmans not him.
Phyllis asked him point blank if the article was true and if he knew about Colin’s con the whole time.
Cane had a different response than what he had said to Jill, the day before. Cane simply responded with, “Would that be a problem?”
