A fatal accident, zero fallout—and a missed opportunity for real soap drama

What Just Happened?

On the December 1st episode of The Bold and the BeautifulDylan confessed to accidentally running down Luna in a tragic twist that had all the makings of high-stakes drama… except it didn’t. Despite the dramatic score and slow-motion anguish, the reaction from the characters—and fans—felt underwhelming at best.

Luna’s death should have rocked the canvas. Instead, it’s barely causing ripples. Finn, her father, is indifferent. Steffy, if anything, might be planning a thank-you card to Dylan. And Dylan? She’s walking around confessing like it’s no big deal, despite the fact that she just killed someone.Bold and the Beautiful August 26: Here's Why We Hope This Brand New Luna is Here to Stay

Missed Opportunity for a Murder Mystery

Let’s break it down: Luna is gone, Dylan’s the culprit, and everyone already knows. So what exactly are we supposed to do with this story? There’s no suspense, no fallout, no dramatic tension. The show could’ve leaned into classic soap territory—Dylan going off the rails, a cover-up, Luna’s body going missing, Steffy or Poppy seeking revenge. Instead, we got… honesty?

Imagine this instead: Dylan did snap after Luna locked her in that closet. She plotted revenge, found out where Luna would be, and made sure she was behind the wheel. Now that’s a soap-worthy setup. Instead, the current storyline plays more like a public service announcement about guilt than a gripping whodunit.

Luna Deserved Better

Let’s not forget: Luna’s entire arc felt slapped together. Her arrival, her tragic paternity issues, her conflict with Steffy—it all had potential. But killing her off this quickly and with so little weight makes the whole arc feel disposable. Viewers have already taken to social media, calling the entire Dylan-Luna crash “pointless.”

And maybe they’re right. There’s no lasting fallout, no real emotional weight from Luna’s supposed loved ones. Dylan’s guilt feels performative. Finn’s reaction is lukewarm. Steffy, who should be furious or at least conflicted, seems more annoyed than devastated.Bold and the Beautiful Today’s Full Episode Finn & Steffy React To Dylan’s Luna Confession

What’s the Endgame?

Unless B&B has a major twist hidden in its back pocket, the Dylan-Luna crash seems like a wasted plot device. Could Dylan spiral into madness? Will Luna’s death come back to haunt Steffy or Finn in unexpected ways? We can only hope.
